Change or cancel your plan

The rules

The catalog states four of these outright, covering seats and cancellation:

• Seat increases prorate immediately.

• Seat reductions apply at renewal.

• Cancellation takes effect at the end of the period.

• Refunds are not automatic.

• Enterprise carries a twelve-month commitment.

Plan changes are not separately itemised in the catalog; they follow the same shape as seat changes. An upgrade takes effect immediately and prorates for the remainder of the period; a downgrade takes effect at your next renewal. If an exact proration matters to your budget, confirm it with billing before you make the change rather than after.

Before a downgrade lands

Check what you are over, and fix it deliberately rather than discovering it at renewal:

• Private repositories — Free allows one.

• Policy declarations — Free allows five in a served manifest.

• Seats — Personal is one seat; Business is fifty.

• Storage — the lower plan's included amount is smaller, and on Free it refuses rather than billing.

• Permission tier — Business is the Team tier and Free and Personal are not. A repository that depends on a Key Authority is the one to look at first.

• History window — it shortens. Enterprise keeps two years, Business one, Personal 180 days, Free 90. History outside the new window stops being recoverable from the hosted service, so clone anything you might want before the downgrade, not after.

Cancelling

• Personal and Business — cancellation takes effect at the next billing renewal. You keep the plan until then.

• Enterprise — the commitment is twelve months, and cancellation takes effect at that exact boundary, not at the next month.

Refunds

Refunds are not automatic. Cancelling stops the next charge; it does not return the current period. If you believe a charge is wrong, contact billing rather than assuming a cancellation reversed it.

Trials and previews

Business has a 14-day trial that does not ask for a card. Enterprise starts paid immediately; what is free there is a preview of at most 30 days for configuring the control plane, with production use and dedicated tenancy disabled — it is for evaluating the administration surface, not for running work on.

Before you cancel

Export first, and check your key backups work. Cancellation does not delete your account, but it does end hosted retention on the schedule for your plan, and a hosted repository is not a backup of itself. The export article covers what to take and how.

Seat changes are not plan changes

Adding or removing seats within a plan is a separate operation with its own timing — increases prorate immediately, reductions apply at renewal.
